I have observed the same problem in openSUSE 11.1 when I upgraded to
1.9.3 from the "factory" repository. Translation, this is not specific

8.04 ship AbiWord 2.4.x (2.6 was already available, but that's another

Now it looks better. grub is still messed-up, but as soon as the kernel is

Example:
hugin-0.6.1 (new package in edgy), Stitcher1.cpp builds fine on my 512MB
machine, but make it trash when using Edgy's gcc. Top show tha
Don't edit the file with AbiWord open. It is much like Mozilla, it will
be overwritten.

The libgphoto2 package is supposed to take care of that, and any "PTP camera"
is detected properly. Works fine in Dapper. Did you try with Dapper?

I just upgraded to Edgy.
I have kernel linux-image-2.6.17-10-386
The machine is a ThinkPad Z60t.
I did suspend the machine Fn-F4. It didn't wake up. The "sleep" light
stayed, nothing reacted.
I was running linux-image-2.6.15-19-386 without glitch.

In Dapper, I could have several level of brightness (Fn-Home and Fn-End)
by pressing one or the other. Now I only have Low and High. When I press
"brighter" it goes up to the top. If I press "darker" it goes down

I did comment splashimage=(hd0,0)/boot/grub/default-splash.xpm.gz
in the grub menu.lst and this works around the problem. In short it is
