While installing the base System from the ubuntu-8.10-rc-alternate-
amd64.iso the installer says
"Please insert the disc labeled: 'Ubuntu 8.10 _Intrepid Ibex_ -Release
Candidate amd64 (20081022)' in the drive '/cdrom/' and press enter."
But the requested disc is (presumably) already in the drive!
I replaced the IDE dvd/cd-drive with a new SATA drive, then tried to
install again from the alpha-5 intrepid-alternate-amd64.iso. This time
the installation went OK, so the conclusion is warranted that the
problem was with recognizing my IDE dvd/cd-drive.
But note that there appears to be nothing

This is not really a bug, or it may be a different sort of bug.
Apple firmware simulates the BT keyboard/mouse as USB devices; these are
then available after booting Ubuntu through the USB-HID interface
(they're listed when running the "sudo lsusb -v" command).
Unfortunately, not all functionality
I have the same problem, Thinkpad X41 Tablet with Jaunty, after
suspending even once all sound is emitted through the internal speakers,
headphones are completely ignored (as in, no sound at all). Rebooting or
hibernating to disk/resuming fix the issue.

I had a similar problem with my MacBook (not Pro), couldn't get the ath0
interface going with the 2.6.15-26-686 kernel and restricted-modules
package. But it did work on the non-SMP 386-kernel and restricted-
modules from the liveCD install...
The Atheros chip in MB/MBP requires the madwifi-ng dri
Spoke too soon... couldn't activate ath0 at the next reboot.
