I'm running Lubuntu 13.04 also from hard drive and having the same issue with
"printing service not available" when trying to setup a printer. My printer
model is Brother DCP 7040. So I noticed by default "avahi-daemon" wasn't
installed on my system. I've installed it and everything worked fine,
I have exactly the same problem.
Everything worked fine on 12.04 and the problem suddenly appeared on
12.10 (nothing changed on the CUPS server).

graphics?
I have such a model and I keep seeing double changes in brightness when
I press FN+Up or Down and g-p-m is running. Also using latest intel
drivers did not help. Using the .30 mainline kernel does give one-step
increments,
Tested Jaunty latest cdlive. The bug is still there.
Given that Dell actually sells the laptops affected by this bug with Ubuntu
preinstalled, it seems incredible to me that after more than a year the bug is
still not fixed.

Maybe this helps. Gnome-power-manager forbidding hibernate altogether
seems to be a different issue though, maybe the

This is a "me too".
But i want to note, that i'm running it on an comparatively "old" and
plain vanilla surf/email station: P4/1.6Ghz (no HT), PATA-100, AGP-
GraphicCard (Matrox MGA550), uhci (USB 1.1), no WLAN, ...
may be this helps to exclude some things

Just tested both the ppa and Jaunty Alpha 2 live on a Dell xps m1330
with intel x3100:
- no differences with the ppa packages. Still
direct rendering: No (LIBGL_ALWAYS_INDIRECT set)
~550 frames in glxgears and a very slow compiz place effect
- Jaunty
direct rendering: Yes
~100 frames in glxgears

This problem cannot be easily fixed in vim, it uses GTK in a "slightly
unusual" way and relied on the documented behavior of gtk_main_quit()
which the GTK devs silently changed in 2.10.0 (by making RecentManager
save the recently used files list). A real fix depends on the GTK devs

2. In nautilus click on a text file so that it opens in gedit
