i try to istall ubuntu 9.10 on my acer aspire with windows xp sp3
with wuby i selected an empty parition on my hd and i continued the
installation..

In few words when I start Ubuntu, the musics of the login and the intro (I'm

I am able to run my phonon application doing this:
ln -sf /usr/lib/kde4/plugins/phonon_backend /usr/lib/qt4/plugins/phonon_backend
Still this is a work around and I'm still waiting for a proper solution.

I applied the patch by Amos Brocco from gnome bugzilla
(http://bugzilla.gnome.org/show_bug.cgi?id=171655) and created a package for
hardy and it works.
If anyone is interested in testing just add "deb

I have the same repeated gdm sound when switching user. I tried to stop
it killing the gdm-greeter process but nothing changes. The only way I
found is to logout and login again. My video card is Nvidia.

Sorry to report that it's not fixed in 8.10 alpha 5 release.
Actually, I can't even see a single thing on this laptop, since the video
driver is not working (monitor seems out of sync).
