I applied the patch by Amos Brocco from gnome bugzilla (http://bugzilla.gnome.org/show_bug.cgi?id=171655) and created a package for hardy and it works. If anyone is interested in testing just add "deb http://ppa.launchpad.net/gbordiga/ubuntu hardy main" to sources.list and update/grade.
The same patch is also found in Fedora 10 (rawhide) nautilus package.
