I update my Ubuntu daily (Karmic Koala 9.10, AMD64 / EXT-4 Filesystem).
A couple of days ago I noticed that Palimpsest changed "Health Status"
from "OK" to "Unknown". S.M.A.R.T. Status was OK, but also changed to
"unknown" as did "Overall Assessment".
I ran a extended self-test but nothing

I am using Ubuntu Karmic Koala (9.10, AMD64). My Pidgin version is
2.6.2. This bug is very annoying since I get requests all the time from
spambots asking me to authorise them and trying to send me files or
links with spyware (which will not affect Ubuntu but is still very
annoying). I set privacy
When I ripped my audio-cd collection to MP3 files, I noticed that the
ripping software did not use upper case. When I tried to rename "ulrich
schnauss - goodbye.mp3" to "Ulrich Schnauss - Goodbye.mp3" I get an
error message that the item could not be renamed. Apperently; Ubuntu

1) A partner repository cannot exist on a beta product until release, as
far as my understanding of the release process. I could be wrong.

This might be related to bug 1324529. On my Lenovo T530, there is only
thinkpad_screen in /sys/class/backlight. The fixes suggested here (the
acpi_backlight=vendor and 80-backlight.conf) do not fix the issue for me
and echoing numbers into /sys/class/backlight/thinkpad_screen/brightness

parameters and installing the nvidia drivers in ppa:xorg-edgers has
fixed the brightness issue. The hotkeys now correctly adjust it. Now,

I've been unable to get a Windows administrative share (ie. C$) mounted
through Autofs. Non-administrative shares work fine. Administrative
shares are accessible with the same credentials from other Windows 10
workstations and through smbc
Experimenting with this a bit, shares with spaces in their names work
fine, but anything with $ or & fails. Ampersands are particularly
troublesome, crashing the automounter if not escaped properly.

Thanks Josh. I actually tried using ASCII codes for the characters the
day I filed the report. No dice. I've managed to make contact with Ian,
an (the?) autofs maintainer. He thinks he's narrowed the problem down to
a particular commit. If we make any progress, I'll share it here.

Ian produced a patch that addresses the problem, at least as far as I've
tested it. Whether the target is properly escaped or quoted, it works as
expected.
The patches (to AutoFS 5.1.2, available from git.kernel.org) are
attached and will likely be integrated into AutoFS 5.1.3.
