That didn't work for me Mariusz, it doesn't even detect my touchpad in
lshal if I checked well, only lists PS/2 mouses there.
I'm starting to wonder if I even have a touchpad according to ubuntu,

I have the same problem (keyboard/mouse die after X starts) after dist
upgrading (-8 to -11 kernel, x64). Booting into single user mode and
starting dbus and hald manually I get the same hald segfault as above.

I wanted to update 9.04 to 9.10 and did with the upgrade option in the
update manager. It ran an error when trying to install ghostscript. No
quite sure anymore. 9.10 booted until just after login, then

My wife's netbook, also an Acer Aspire One w/ the same Atheros chipset
listed above also has the issue reported. Additionally she is unable to
join the network at all as her personal account. I tested the system
with the the Live CD (via USB Thumb Drive) and it does not appear to

I think FGLRX and/or Pulseaudio caused this problem. After disabling
those two things all my problems went away.
