Binary package hint: gnome-panel
When I rename the workspaces, they update correctly onscreen, but after
a reboot the names are lost, and it reverts to Desk 1, Desk 2 and Desk
3.

Hi there
Initially I was just using the default window manager, but I enabled
'Desktop Effects' (System > Preferences> Desktop Effects). When that was
enabled, it would always lose the names. However when I turned it off, I
found that the names stayed, even after a reboot.

Same problem in Feisty 7.04 using 1024*768 resolution..lots of white
space and 'close' button disappears behind bottom panel. The window
cannot resize any smaller than this apparently..
