Hi there

Initially I was just using the default window manager, but I enabled
'Desktop Effects' (System > Preferences> Desktop Effects). When that was
enabled, it would always lose the names. However when I turned it off, I
found that the names stayed, even after a reboot.

Since then however I have changed my interface quite substantially and
now use Beryl, so i dont think I can easily replicate for you.

I am 90% sure however that the problem was caused by enabling Desktop
Effects.

Thanks for getting back to me!
