I have the same message error when i launch Kate from Konsole (running
Lucid rc), and i do not know where to start that daemon (persistently if

If I run tsclient full screen (not sure if it matters but it's to a

Corruption regressed to the point that system would become unresponsive
as the display flickered back and forth between an old and current
state. If the system monitor app was running you could see the plots
progress in an odd stop motion.

Thanks for the response.
As if by magic it did it again today.
I killed off chrome and virtualbox with no response. Killed off the screensaver
with again no change. Compiz and X just sat at 100% cpu and zero response to
the mouse/keyboard on the screen.
I don't tend to run much, lots of gnome-
No activity because there has been no developer action, not because the
bug has gone away.
I've tried turning off compiz and it still does it.

I downgraded my nvedia drivers because of another bug and ... many of
the buttons in applications would not work but by resizing the
window(thus putting the buttons in another area of the screen) they were
clickable. And the cursor changed to default in parts of Firefox which

I see this as two issues, firstly the update-manager doesn't check for

While there is a bodge to get things working (although I still get some
strange boarders and window behaviour) this is a *MAJOR* out of the box
functionality breaker.
Multi-monitor should "just work" (as it does in Windows[0]), it used to
be easy (for me anyway), install "Nvidia X Server Settings"

The apport logs are for the machine was the original machine I had the
issue with (my home PC), the other machine is my work PC but apport
doesn't work through the proxy

The pointer changes on applications but not on the ... Desktop, panels
or window title. Surely, such actions are inconsistent and make us a
'laughing stock' of the windows users ?
