Tilda's cursor is always white regardless of the selected color scheme.
That means if the background is white, the cursor is not visible; if
black -- the character under it is not visible. However, if a palette

Ok, so the problem is not with alsa-driver - when I change the volume
level with alsamixer, the actual volume changes as expected. Rather, it
is Unity's sound level applet.

on the server side, try to specify the full path to the sftp-server
binary explicitly in the sshd's config file. In Debian that would be:
Subsystem sftp/usr/lib/openssh/sftp-server
Worked for me at least.

Changing the sound level in the range 0-75% corresponds to only a slight
change in the actual volume, but changing it in the remaining range
(75-100%) changes the volume very rapidly. Very annoying.
