I disabled 'Visual Effects' in the Appearance Manager and I got another

The newline is sent to make sure that the error does not print at the
end of some other line. It is only ever printed as part of the first
error message, so I set it to print on the same stream as errors rather
than stdout. Seems simple enough.

The only use of showpkg over show is the reverse depends listing it
seems.
Perhaps showpkg could be deprecated and then removed in the future
rather than fixed now. If the reverse depends listing were to be added
to show, there would be no reason for the two separate functions to
