I am not able to do anything about this myself, so I shouldn't be

However. can you please attach your /etc/X11/xorg.conf to the bug
report? By default when there is a synaptic touchpad listed there, a
third tab will appear under System>Preferences>Mouse that allows you to
configure your touchpad. Thanks!
