I had a similar problem yesterday when installing kubuntu 7.10 beta on
my second gen, early 2006 C2D macbook. The proper resolution is able to
be set but initial resolution is only 1024x768. part of the reason I
consider this a bug is that it is properly detected in gnome with ubuntu

I have a similar issue, but I've changed my time with time-admin via the
system menu.
I travel quite a bit and I change my system time zone when I arrive in a
new location. The time updates promptly when I change it, but after a
reboot (ie; shutting down the laptop between the office and hotel) i

sudo apt-get install selinux
This prompted for a reboot, which I did. When the machine came back up
I get an error that the system is unable to start hal. Looking at the
syslog there
On a fresh install I did 'apt-get install selinux' and I am able to
restart cups as normal. It looks like this bug only affects 7.10 or
upgrades from 7.10.

unmounted, no folder remnants remain and it is safe to remove the

Applications remained. The only way I could find to remove it was via
the System > Preferences > Main Menu editor tool.

Running the alternate-amd64 installer. If a "name" is added to the
partition and then removed (I saw name and thought label, later finding
the label and swapping the fields) it causes the installer to lock. A
soft reboot was required to get out of the installer after nearly
update: the installer cleanly finishes itself and ejects the CD. From
previous experience knowing that it is asking to press ENTER I did. The
machine reboots, boots cleanly and the machine works fine with compiz
active by default. No more graphical issues so far. They are/were
