Spoke too soon. I was syncing my 40 GB Music Library to my External

Okay, it affected pidgin, too, today. First time it's done that. I made

However, what package should I file this against? What logs can I

and uses the sound hardware directly, not through Pulseaudio. Since the
PA suspender did not work, this is an OSS problem. I installed the alsa-

Um, so does this bug not affect precise users (as per comment # 3)? I
can't reproduce on a stock machine, it works just fine with a machine
with and without -proposed updates.

This is very suspicious. This is not a window manager issue, then.
What if you removed the nvidia driver (via "additional drivers")
completely so that you use the open-source drivers instead? Does the
issue pursue? If so, does this issue affect windows/another OS?

I've been having this issue on my laptop with Precise much more
frequently as of recent. Intel i915. I have no lock screen when I resume
so I see a frozen version of my desktop. The mouse can move around and
updates itself but the screen doesn't update.

Hi! Thanks for the bug report. The next time this happens, could you
switch to tty1 (via control+alt+F1) and type in 'killall -9 compiz'? You
can then see if that fixes the issue. If it does indeed fix it, this is
a duplicate of bug 793893.

Hi, Nipas. Since Compiz is in such a large state of flux your issue may
have been resolved in later versions of compiz. An issue like this has
little chance of making it into older ubuntu versions, too. So it would
be very helpful if you could download a prerelease version of Ubuntu
