I have upgraded to 10.04 from 9.xx. Running on an Intel D975XBX2 board
with Core 2 processor in 64 bit mode. All information indicates that the
requisite Marvell controller etc is in place. I see the drives in the
boot process - or bios sees on machine boot. The drives were there and
visible on the
applied Cody's patch to the latest source (thanks!), still experiencing
a minor issue that could be related: after I turn bluetooth off and back
on, the "Visibility" option would disappear until I re-login.

This is happening to me too. It just started about a week ago. I have
four icons in my notification area immediately after I log in; wireless,
battery/power, bluetooth and volume control. Sometimes of of the icons
will have a non-operational double that takes the place of one of the
other icons
I am also unable to reproduce this on Karmic (9.10).
I am able to reproduce this consistently on Intrepid and Jaunty (8.10 and 9.04)

Chalk this one up to user ineptitude! Spent a part of the day
yesterday installing the latest version on NVidia dirver and tools
for Linux. Once that was done and I could actually control my screen
resolution - Evolution was all readable.
Not sure what/where the issue I had was coming from. Mo

Installing to brand clean new 1TB Western Digital drive.
Installation proceeds apace until it reaches Installing Software. At that point

I didn't sort it out - fortunately I'd made a backup (firstly by copying
to another drive, and secondly locally by renaming the home folder to
'ben-bak'... So after waiting for 1.9GB to download, i spent another 7
hours waiting for the CD to download, and did a fresh install

I had been having this problem too w/ an Asus M3A78-EMH (780G)
motherboard ever since the switch from Intrepid to Janunty. I switched
to 2.6.31-999-generic #200908211846 from the mainline kernel repository
(https://wiki.ubuntu.com/KernelTeam/MainlineBuilds) a couple of days ago
and haven't had any
in my case it happens when i am trying to install it as user root
when upgrading per
"sudo aptitude dist-upgrade" it worked.

I now have a problem with 'Move Window' and 'Resize Window' plugins.
I changed the keyboard settings (as my middle mouse button is dying) to
'Super+Alt button 1' for move, and 'ctrl+alt button 1' for resize.
Actually now I cannot move or resize, and cannot use the keyboard
shortcut Alt F7 either.

I can confirm t this bug. I believe it to be an issue with
nautilus/samba as I receive a similar crash with SATA drives.
