Erm, not really. What is strange that sound suddenly starts working
sometimes (very rarely), and then disappears again. This week it was
working for three full days or so, but then disapeared again this

enabled/disabled. Could you give me a few directions where I should

is no way to adjust the screen backlight brightness. It is 100% all the
time. IN 21.04 the solution was to add to kernel command line the
i915.enable_dpcd_backlight=1 however this does not work in 21.10.

Debian was the first, Ubuntu is the second. But now it is quite clear
that all distributions will have to accept either using EULA or rebrand
Firefox. If we choose to rebrand maybe the best choice is as Max Rabkin
said to use Iceweasel so that there will be less proliferation.

I am quite familiar with git and can try to bisect, but my laptop is not
so fast, so a dozen of build will probably take some time. I reproduce
the problem by working (svn up or rm -rf) with KDE subversion
repository.

I can also confirm that this bug is not reproducible on 2.6.28 and
2.6.29-rc1 vanilla kernels.
It means that this problem occured because of Ubuntu kernel patches and
that's why Theodore was not able to reproduce it on his Intrepid machine
with updated vanilla kernels.

I got the same realtek card. I tried almost everything, new kernel, disabled
the onboard lan card and so on.
The reatek card just works well with other dists and windows...

1.5.1.6 is incredibly buggy and crashes very often with loss of data.
These crashes seems to be fixed upstream in 1.6.0.1 version.

We need 1.6.0 (it is released but not yet in Debian), not 1.5.1.6
because 1.5.1.6 is very unstable and crashes too often. It makes Labplot
quite unusable.
