Note that in this last set of examples you were using the systemd
resolver (127.0.0.53). Which might be setup (or not) to query the bind
server you are testing.
I suggest to always start from a clean slate in that case. You can clear
the systemd resolver cache by running:
sudo systemd-resolve --f
Can you elaborate a bit on how you are joining the domain, and the
output you are getting? The upstream bug and this one are not showing
that particular detail, they only say that "net ads join fails".

This is what I used to test:
- disable updates and security in /etc/apt/sources.list
- install mysql-server-5.7 (or whatever version is shipped in that release of
ubuntu)
- use mysql command line to connect and create a test database
- stop mysql: sudo systemctl stop mysql
- disable mysql: sudo sy
Trusty doesn't have systemd, but upstart. There the steps were:
- disable updates and security in /etc/apt/sources.list
- install mysql-server-5.5
- use mysql command line to connect and create a test database
- stop mysql: stop mysql
- disable mysql: echo manual | sudo tee /etc/init/mysql.override
Still confirmed, even in cosmic with samba 4.8. The smbcontrol reload-
config action still leaves processes hanging on to the rotated file.

I did a quick smoke test on an nvdimm-enabled machine and "ndctl list
--dimms" returned a list of the modules (6 out of 8, not sure why 2 were
missing), whereas on another machine without the nvdimm modules nothing
was returned, not even with the memmap kernel command line option.

I got access to the hardware, but to be honest I'm not sure what to test
specifically in the case of pmdk. I used it mostly for ndctl smoke
testing, for bug #1781268. I suppose the testconfig.sh file in src/test
can be tweaked for the real hardware case, but I don't have that info at
the moment. I
