xpdf is a very old X application, I did not use it since gpdf was
replaced by evince.
I just remember it does not use pango, and has it's own cMap.
So any change in fontconfig and poller-data will never affect it.

But the value of LC_COLLATE in zh_CN is:

losted.

I just tested the default setting in the gedit package,
[CURRENT,GB18030,GBK,GB2312,UTF-8,UTF-16]
All of GB18030,GBK,GB2312,UTF-8 and UTF-16 characters can be displayed.
[UTF-8,CURRENT,ISO-8859-15,UTF-16,GB2312,GBK,GB18030]
Your config maybe have some problem, did you test the case, if
In 040216.pdf, it use PMingLiU font.
In 2004lanyu.pdf, it use DFLiShu, DFMing, MingLiU and PMingLiU.
In /etc/fonts/conf.d, fontconfig just has MingLiU/PMingLiU support, but
without DFLiShu and DFMing.

Yes, you are right, if the user know the encoding of the file, they can open it
with gedit.
But not all of them know what's the encoding, so automatic detect mode is the
most user case.
Gedit has a auto detect sequence recorded in gconf, the correct value is

This is a bug in Sina service, they have fixed it, when user input wrong
username/password, they won't return 401, but let the user reinput
username/password again.
So, gwibber-service-sina need not be modified.
