Hi Hou, I just tested the default setting in the gedit package, [CURRENT,GB18030,GBK,GB2312,UTF-8,UTF-16]
All of GB18030,GBK,GB2312,UTF-8 and UTF-16 characters can be displayed. [UTF-8,CURRENT,ISO-8859-15,UTF-16,GB2312,GBK,GB18030] Your config maybe have some problem, did you test the case, if the file contents GB18030 characters which is not in GB2123?
