Sorry not to have replied sooner but it is partly because I have been REALLY
busy but mainly because I am no expert on virtualbox.
My problem was just an /etc/redhatrelease file that I had put to be able to
install something else and needed to delete for VB.

I can confirm that I have the issue in Karmic with the GAL. I was unsure
to begin with which format the GAL server should take. If on the LAN
with the server then I assume its
with no protocol
specified. If offsite then I don't know what to use and suspect there
would be port issues, firewall etc.
