I have successfully worked around the bug. But it involves a few steps...
First I edited the included script `/usr/bin/jmodeltest` and commented out the
offending line (that calls /usr/lib/java-wrappers.sh):

Then I modified the last line, from:

backport-iwlwifi-dkms 9858-0ubuntu1 is in jammy.
the linux kernel patches you see in that PPA has not been submitted for

with the current Ubuntu 22.04 beta my WIFI device Intel Corporation
Wireless-AC 9260 is not shown/working.
If I copy/use the firmware from an current Ubuntu 20.04 system it is
working again.

I can also confirm having the same issue with a focusrite scarlett 2i4
running 5.13.0-39. I have rolled back to 5.13.0-35 and the issue is not
present.
I have not attempted the fix of setting the default-sample-rate in
etc/pulse/daemon.conf as yet.
