I would be reluctant to approve a blanket FFe for this purpose, even for
a non-LTS. We had some bad experiences in the past with blanket FFe's.
What I would be willing to consider is a wider-range FFe for a selected
set of features (which should be more or less similar). Would that be
good enough?
One user on debbugs.gnu.org reported that the problem is more likely
related to the locale / glibc than coreutils, and that it occurs on
Ubuntu 18.04 but not Fedora 28, in case that helps any. He thought it
might have already been fixed in glibc, since Fedora tends to be more up
to date than Ubuntu
The suggested mitigation is in bionic-unapproved for the consideration
of the SRU team.

But OTOH picking a random system - here a powerpc box and starting a
cosmic container reproduces the same issue:
cpaelzer@diamond:~$ lxc launch ubuntu-daily:c cpaelzer-cosmic-systemd
Creating cpaelzer-cosmic-systemd
Could you please change the bug status to resolved and point me with
some more good manuals?

I got a report of 239-7ubuntu4 that Metal isn't affected and works being
upgraded.
Knowing that I fetched a cosmic VM which as of the current image starts
with 239-7ubuntu4 as well and works fine.
Free was so kind to double check if it is me and spawned a cosmic
container as well on his system.
Same problem as @eyallior and @fxedel: physical right button of touchpad
doesn't work. In my case tapping right corner doesn't work neither.
My laptop: Toshiba Satellite P50-B-11L. Upgraded from 16.04
Touchpad buttons are place under the touchpad itself.
I've tried gnome tweaks solution and @pema
The result of the Test Free did is here as well, and now I wonder what I did.
It is working for him just fine ... ?
