Commit 3a9b76fd0db9 is not needed in Bionic, since it is 3.15 based.

Started with 16.04 kernel 4.4 - to 16.04 HWE Kernel - via do-release-upgrade to

Unable to start Scilab 6.0.1 on bionic because of missed
Could you please paste the full command line that the qemu process is
using (ps fauxwww should be enough), and perhaps a xml dump of the vm,
like this: "virsh dumpxml > vm.xml" and attach that to this
