I have been able to confine this problem to the Chimera boot loader used.
If I configure this bootloader to generate P-States, the boot process falls
into an infinite loop, otherwise booting proceeds as usual.

I managed to fix the problem by opening the Synaptic Package Manager, then
selecting all installed ClamAV and ClamTK packages, for complete deletion,
including configuration files and installation logs, in addition to all the
suggested packages.
