Started xenial container with s390-tools 1.34.0-0ubuntu8.2. Using the
same test case as on yakkety, getting bad udev rules. Upgrading to

the display was connected to the integrated VGA port. After removing the

@bcount0, yours is a different problem. You have a service called
"smfpd" which either has incorrect LSB headers in its initscript in
/etc/init.d, or doesn't have them at all. You should try to get an
updated version of that if it's available, or file a bug about it with
whomever supplied you with

I upgraded to Ubuntu 17.04 a couple of weeks ago, and the problem
persisted under its version of kernel 4.10.
I just installed all the four packages in the link above, and booted
into the new Kernel on Ubuntu 17.04. The problem still persists. This is
the output of 'dmesg | grep "usb 3-3"' shortly
following script gives a working workaround for ubuntu 16 and debian 9:

I tested gnome-software 3.20.5-0ubuntu0.16.04.5 on a fresh installation
of xenial and executed the test plan linked in the description. I didn't
find any regression and issues identified have been confirmed in version
3.20.1+git20170524.0.ea2fe2b0-0ubuntu0.16.04.1 in xenial-update.
