With this patch libx26410b_plugin.so is linked against
/usr/lib/${DEB_HOST_MULTIARCH}/x264-10bit/libx264.so.140 and loading it via
rpath. libx264_plugin.so loads the regular x264 library.
It seems the x264 bit depth can be set in the input/codecs settings in the VLC
settings via the x264 profile
That's not something Diodon has under control.
Anyway for now I just want to figure out a way what steps are needed to
reproduce this issue. When we found a reliable way it is then easier to
think about how to fix it.

I am running Ubuntu 14.04 LTS (64-bit), fully updated. Unity version is:
7.2.3+14.04.20140826-0ubuntu1
I just changed monitors, and also from DVI to DisplayPort (due to higher
resolution).
The screen does not 'turn off', after screen locked (or timeout). Screen
is black (with white mouse cursor),

update-initramfs -u -k allsolved it for me as well - thanks!

post-install option in 14.10 and 15.04. That is as afar as I am going to
