The black screen seen on logout is DIFFERENT to the black screen problem on lid

Logout will allow a smooth power down on power switch press. Terminal
reports normal activity. This could be the backlight issue reported

Maximizing the dialog makes the label readable, but upon reverting the
dialog to its original size makes it unreadable (overlapped) once

result, some applications cannot get sound from the microphone.

I've been seeing this off and on for a while, with no idea what causes
it to work or not. I had thought for a while that it was fixed, but it
just seems to happen at random and I simply didn't hit it for a while.
After it fails, sometimes I can reboot and try again and it'll work.

Was trying to play audio through the totem video player whilst watching
a video. Visual side was perfect, but even with maximal volume set,
there was no audio whatsoever. Test confirmed that the audio is working
ok, so not sure what to do next. Apport says the fault's with

are you using alsa dkms before upgrade, seem upgrade did not install the

I commented out the call to gtk.gdk.threads_init() in SysTray.py of
radiotray, per
