I just upgraded to 14.04 and I'm affected by the same bug that was bothering me
in 13.10. I use combinations shift+shift-R and shift+shift-L to switch back and
forth to 3 layouts. Unfortunately, since 13.10 that this bug was introduced,
the difference between left and right combinations is gone.
Can you please download and run the boot info script from here, and post
the results:

Allow me to sum it up.
- Nicolas is the sole advocate of having Control_R mapped to Level5.
- The rest of us want to go back to having both left and right Control
behaving the same way.
I'm not quite sure how you want us
Could you please run the memtest option from the boot menu for an hour
or so and see if it reports any errors? Also the check cd option.

I just upgraded to Ubuntu 14.04 and tested podcast downloads with
Rhythmbox.
The bug does affect me too, though I would make some changes to the
steps to reproduce:
1. Subscribe to a podcast
2. Doubleclick on an old episode to download it
3. Start playing it while it is still being downloaded
It should be noted that upstream is not planning on making another SDL
1.2 release. They are building a compatibility API for SDL 2.0 instead.
We should apply this patch until that compatibility API is ready.

It looks like the problem is that your arrays are named rather than
numbered, so they are detected as md/root, and so on, but /proc/mounts
shows them being mounted by their numerical name ( /dev/md0 ). It seems
that grub needs to sort out the fact that they can be referred to by
either name.

Experienced the bug here too.
Sony Vaio Pro Haswell Laptop. I did not touch the GRUB. Just clicked update in
Update Center.
For those of us that are not extremely Linux Savvy - What is the best
way to fix? Running boot-repair from LiveUSB?
