I was installing the update to the newest release of kubuntu trusty tahr
using the muon update manager, it ran all night but when it tried to
update the lightdm it reported a but and the muon update manager screen
is frozen so I can not see any more details of the error messag

I did as suggested to run it from LXTerminal but I still can NOT connect
to my wireless network. Need to figure out what is wrong ...

One more comment: I had a leftover IPv6 config on the server, which
basically ment it was enabled but not really used. After disabling it
(commenting out all "server-ipv6") everything works as it used to, just
without IPv6.

I fixed it (for me) by changing the dconf key "desktop.ibus.general.use-
system-keyboard-layout" to "true" (Ubuntu Gnome 14.04 Trusty Tahr).

At first it was giving me errors about packages that "had no cache" (an example
of this was a package named "zsnes", which I removed, afterwards the error
didn't show up again), but now it hangs on "Calculating changes.
(the latter caused by mate and cinnamon installed from PPA)
