I'm sorry, but I've switched to Linux Mint Debian Edition some time ago
on all my PCs, so I'm not able to test this anymore. With LMDE kernel
3.2.0-4-686-pae #1 SMP Debian 3.2.32-1 i686 GNU/Linux the problem is not
present anymore as far as I can see, but no idea if that will help you.

I had this problem in Precise and Quantal but it is fixed for me in
Raring. Can you try Ubuntu 13.04 "Raring Ringtail" and let us know if
it is fixed for you?

Affects me in 13.04 using default Ubuntu Unity. Problem goes away when I
apt-get purge overlay-scrollbar which is an abomination anyway. I am
amazed that anyone can get anything done with it.

USB external drive not mounted automaticall

Since the update to 3.8.0-28 no external USB highspeed devices are
mounted anymore. Falling back to 3.8.0-27 solves the problem on two
separate machines.
It seems that at least sometimes the device gets mounted after more than
6 minutes (see attached syslog).
