Didn't work for me. I cleared out the sections 'start' and 'stop' in the
script /etc/init.d/hsqldb. Then did the sudo apt-get purge hsqldb-server
and finally I got rid of this thing. Not something you want to tell an
Ubuntu newbie about ...

Just looking for an update on this. Would the proper solution for this
be to have a 13.04 upgrage remove xfce4-volumed and install xfce4-mixer

If a user has no ~/.config/user-dirs.dirs, it will be created at login
(or by calling "xdg-user-dirs-update"). However, this translates ony
some of the names to the current locale. In my case (German locale),
I forgot to add: The only thing I did was to update my BIOS firmware
from 204 to 205 downloading from ASUS:

keys do not work.
Brightness works in the brightness panel with the slider.
Have tested audio keys in rythmbox and no result.
