I had this issue. It was due to an issue with package ubuntu-sso-client-qt
installation.
running
sudo apt-get install -f
did not solve the issue. But after running
sudo apt-get install --reistall ubuntu-sso-client-qt
I was able tu update software again.

Trying today, I find that uninstalling libreoffice-gnome doesn't do the
trick (even with a full reboot after it), but removing libreoffice-gtk

I'd like to reiterate at this point that the solution Thomas proposed
solves the problem of the Asus X201E not being able to go into standby
on Ubuntu 13.04. After several reboots & suspends, the bug is not coming
back, and I'm delighted about it! So, to recapitulate how to fix it:
1. Open termin

with some phrases in fr, ang and la and you had dictionaries for British
English and French but not for Latin or Anglo-Saxon, that it would pass
by those Latin and Anglo-Saxon phrases.

Also affected by this after latest kernel update.The update also included
something about the perl-library, was a pretty big one.
Had several freezes needing hard reboot since my laptop didn't react anymore .
