I just retested with the multipath-tools version
'0.4.9-3ubuntu5+lp1032250dbg1', on 2 systems simulatiously. The test
consisted of repeatedly shutting down the fibre port in the switch for
one of the paths. One system survived (see syslog.test2.survived.gz),

And yes, the workaround posted in comment #14 fix the issue. I've put it
in a shell script and execute it when I plug the headset. We can also
create a udev rule to execute the script right after plugging in the
headset, right? :-)

When btrfs-cache runs on first boot/login it is so taxing on disk I/O
that it prevents anything else from using the disk. The computer is
therefore unresponsive for about 1 min after first boot/login. btrfs-
cache should run in such a way that it does not block other processes
