All Kernels later then 3.2.x does no longer work correctly.
I have tried the latest 3.7-rc3 kernel too , but even this one fails.
Latest working kernel was the 3.2 series.

I wasn't able to boot any new kernel i've picked. I've tried "current",
3.7-rc2 and 3.6.3. All of them just fails in the same way, before it can
mount root fs, showing call stacks and such things.

Question is that the Unity video lens doesn't seem to fit my limited
understanding of what a OOTB
It seems Gnome Shell in 3.6.1 looks for metacity themes in
~/.local/share/themes instead of in ~/.themes. Gtk still looks for
themes in ~/.themes, though. As a workaround, you can symlink one of the
locations to the other one.

Hi,
have you tried to install Quantal in VirtualBox4.2.X?
The traces looks simliar to those we have here in VirtualBox
installations.
When it is like this, than can not be done much from here.

Had this problem on two different 12.10 but both built with a release
upgrade from 12.10 beta. Updated one of the systems from the 12.10
distribution level of 12.10 and the problem does not exists.
