I was really surprised to see that with Lucid (10.04.4 LTS) suspend and
resume worked properly. I tested a few times in a row and it always

Nice, thanks for this bug report. However, it seems correct that a
removed application should disappear from the Launcher as soon as the
removal starts, rather than when it finishes. The application stops
being usable very soon after removal begins, and it's not going to
become usable any time late

On Xubuntu 12.04 hdparm time spindown was working but after the distributions
update to xubuntu 12.10 no longer works.
