I think this may be an nVidia issue. I just got the beta update to
304.48 of the nVidia binary blob and the lockups have suddenly stopped
on my system. The FPS in Second Life has gone up to around 10 (better

Trying to change the size of the Launcher icons I am directed to use "the
Launcer size slider" in the Appearance application. There is no such slider
that I can find.
