Nautilus manages the desktop background, and provides those menus.
Nautilus in quantal right now is having some crashes. Maybe that's
what's causing this problem for you. When you see this behavior, try
right-clicking on the desktop. If no menu appears, nautilus isn't

reproduce this error (installed on 2012-06-06 from apt log files)

kernel from #80 and 3.5.0-16 and the computer didn't boot correctly. Then

times and it causes our system hangs.

Window placement is not up to xorg. The bug is probably either in the
application in question not setting its defaults up right, or in the
window manager.
Btw as a workaround often Alt+click works.

Attaching strace to the running avahi-daemon ( is process ID of
avahi-daemon)

and stopping CUPS with
