OK, wasn't sure if it was X or the login manager. Not sure what the
login manager WAS, looked it up, seems to be lightdm.
Next time it happened, I used kill on the lightdm for tty7, and presto,
it's fixed.

Would it be possible for you to test the latest upstream kernel? Refer
to https://wiki.ubuntu.com/KernelMainlineBuilds . Please test the latest
v3.5kernel[0] (Not a kernel in the daily directory) and install both the
linux-image and linux-image-extra .deb packages.

I applied the patches in #11 and #12 to the current precise xserver-xorg-core
source (1.11.4-0ubuntu10.2) and unfortunately, it does not solve the atmel
maXtouch "loss of single click" (I can reproduce that behavior systematically
