I have just installed a fresh version of Ubuntu 12.04 LTS final release
and I STILL have this annoying issue with the SOUND. What have you done
to a once working system in 11.10 Go back to the drawing board and

The only way I can hear through headphon
I have added a screenshot with Headphones plugged in. From here you can
see there is only one Analog audio output. The jack port on my Computer
doubles up as a digitial out as well. Could there be a conflict with
HDA Intel Analogue and Digital detection???

Setting "Force full screen redraw (buffer swap) on repaint" seems to improve
performance overall, compiz normally uses 60-80% cpu when moving a window
(crazy right?) and when set "Force full screen redraw (buffer swap) on repaint"
it uses only ~30%.

I have the same issue. the noise is bearly noticeable at low volume, at
higher volumes there is a horrible high frequency "hiss" added ... i
tried to hassel with /etc/modprobe.d/alsa-base.conf options + asla
force-reload as found in the ubuntu wiki to no avail. back to the
original distro alsa-base
Well my MySQL server upgrade and my GRUB2 upgrade also failed.
It would be nice if there would be some hints what to do when the
do-upgrade-script command fails.
Perhaps it should be possible to rerun the script...
