Folks, I simply erased the configuration forcing the system to create a
clean one:
open a console trough :
Ctrl+Alt+F1
find X process and kill it:
ps -ef | grep X
Clear old configuration (all unity configurations will be lost)... I have a
really old user account, so, I found 2 different paths:

Upgrading from xorg-edgers eliminates the problem too.
However, I performed a more detailed investigation, and I find that
upgrading of only the package libdrm-intel1 (with a few other required

I updated to 12.04 the last days and got stuff up and running again.
With the described methods still only the right channel is sent to the
subwoofer (also applied the pulseaudio modification). In contrary to

Hello on my Ubuntu 12.04 64bit after I upgraded to linux-
image-3.2.0-24-generic the system is incredible slow on boot... the rest
is perfectly working after about 3 minutes on boot.
On dmesg I found some error maybe due one of my hd is dead but in the
preview kernel release
