But, it occurred to me (while writing that bug report) that the correct

Ubuntu better. While we appreciate the difficulties you are facing, it
would appear that the CD image (ISO file) you downloaded could be
corrupt. There is an easy way to verify the integrity of the Ubuntu ISO
files you download. C

installed. Then I opened Synapric package manager and tried to install

This looks like an upstream bug, please report it to the upstream. Our
packaging for python-sqlite also comes from Debian, so if you want this
applied before the next upstream release includes it, please submit this
bug to python-sqlite in Debian.

[Upstream] Cannot access 'data series' on libreoffice calc chart

I can confirm the problem on Xubuntu 11.10 to. I don't get any signal on the TV
screen with kernel 3.0.0-12
and kernel 3.0.0-13. The s-video port is detected and listed on xrandr. The
refresh rate is given with 30hz, but
is seems to bee wrong for a PAL-TV.
If I use an installed lucid kernel 2.6.

Thank you David for your solution. It does work perfectly.
But...I still think this is an issue and not a "simplification". Why would a
lambda user be forced to go through dconf-editor (which they probably don't
know anything about) in order to have the laptop shutdown when they close the
lid be
