Found a work-around. I have GDM installed as well as lightdm. I typed:
sudo dpkg-reconfigure gdm
to tell the system to use GDM instead of lightdm. Everything now works,
but I still need permanent fix so I can stay 'standard' with lightdm.

I just installed hdparm v9.37 from source. I set the S option to 1 (5
seconds) and it worked. But 20 seconds later the disk spun up again (I
did not access it). So I tried the Ubuntu version of hdparm with -S set
to 1---and it worked, too. But the disk spun up again after 20 seconds.

Perhaps this is a subject for UDS regarding redundance then of dash,
gnome-activity-journal (which displays the path of a file beside systray
function) and activity-log-manager (which is available with Precise).
When the dash gets a function to display the path of a file it races some

If I start Firefox and switch over to another desktop (using alt-
left/right or the switcher button in unity), Firefox disappears but it's
process remains running in the background. I'm running Unity2D since not

The fix in 7.1 is incomplete - the configure.in file blacklists
coherence_upnp plugin and debian/totem-plugins-extra.install has the
coherence_upnp line commented.

In the mean time, after almost 4 years of this bug being open, it would
be worth to provide bsnes. It is a viable alternative with native amd64
support and is supposed to have more emulation accuracy than both zsnes
and snes9x. Check the corresponding bug:
