After upgrading to 8GB RAM i got the same error (0) and X segfaulted.
According to (1) i switched off the dual channel mode and the problem
disappeared.
So i think this is not - as assumed above - a HW failure but a problem
of the nvidia module which is confused by large RAM in dualchannel mode.
This bug was fixed in the package opencv - 2.1.0-3ubuntu2

The kernel was updated after bug #775809, which is now marked resolved.
I can confirm the exact same behavior as Henryk after the update -- no
more wrong reporting, but sometimes two batteries on the notification
overlay -- on a Thinkpad T410s.

the problem is related to nvidia-current package.
the package install lib inside /usr/lib but when kernel postinst (any kernel)
searches the nvidia libs inside /usr/lib32
I think /usr/lib and /usr/lib32 is the same thing if you have a 32bit kernel.
So I created a symbolic link:

attached is a patch which corrects the following:
* circular scrolling start point saved in gconf, was not saved at all
* scrolling speed saved as int, was saved as bool
Reading properties worked correctly, so adding on or more of the following in
gconf in /desktop/gnome/peripherals/SynPS... work
Can anyone check if 275.19 driver solve this issue?
