This could be a variety of things. Let's get some basic details down.
1) Does this happen with the upgraded version of lirc available in the archive
too? 0.8.7-0ubuntu4.1
2) Do you have lirc-modules-source installed?
3) If so, remove it. Does it fix the problem?
4) What's your dmesg look like?
While the bug still occurs in 10.10, I can confirm that it is not a
problem in 11.04. Incidentally, the issue also occurred with vncviewer
in full-screen, so perhaps it was a Unity issue, rather than a problem
with rdesktop itself.

randomly freezes. It makes it through installation, but will randomly
and completely freeze when under high load. It appears to lock up under
high load even when the Atheros network card is disabled via the
hardware switch.

I've been having this same issue intermittently, usually appearing when
exiting a full terminal editor like emacs after re-attaching an old

I just installed Ubuntu 11.04 64 bit on my iMac.
I'm facing the exact same problem. When installing without specifying
amd64, work units are gathered normally. But, when the option is used
and after invoking origami status i get:
No work units have been assigned yet. Please check status again
I see that the libffcall deb contains static libraries as well as
dynamic ones. Is there a way to tell clisp to detect the latter and
avoid the former?

I see this too on a university network (hundreds of printers from dozens
of dept's, etc...), 10.04 LTS.

I have this problem. I tried upgrading the kernel to 2.6.39-0 and that
doesn't fix it. ~30% CPU usage by the kworker process at all times.
