It could possibly be a localisation issue then, perhaps? I'm using the
en-gb localisation... I assume you're using a different one?

I upgraded my version of Ubuntu 10.10 to Ubuntu 11.04 (Alpha) using the update
manager applet in Ubuntu 10.10. My system was working perfectly
does "fix committed" mean there's a fix in upstream, but not yet
released as a package in the repos, or it means we shouldn't see the

OK, it is a big issue, since USA layout gets added on each boot.
Maybe it was happening before the update too, but I did not notice due
to a lot of other issues.

I just checked the translations and it seems that Unity is the only area
that the Wastebasket is referred to as the Rubbish Bin in the en-gb
locale so I've submitted the changes to the Unity translations. I've
changed this bug report to 'Invalid' as it's not a bug with Nautilus.

I think *any* rewriting of /etc/hosts by Network Manager (or anything
else for that matter) is simply *wrong*.
I have a local DNS server on my LAN which provides everything needed, in
particular it provides an FQDN for my system.
Thus my /etc/hosts is:-
127.0.0.1 localhost

went to sleep. Upon moving the mouse and hitting some keys, the display did not
reappear, just the mouse. Eventually I rebooted (Alt+SysRq REISUB).

My launcher is set to never hide, and when I maximize windows, it does
the right thing by acting like a 'panel'. I.e. the maximized window
does not overlap the launcher.
When I change to a different workspace and then change back, the
launcher now overlaps the maximized

After the mentioned update there were nmoreupdates detected by Update Manager.
I installed them and now the grub.cfg again has the correct hd1 entry and sdb1.
But it still does not boot each time.
The problem is, that there are 3 "scsi" devices: sda, sdb and sdc.
And the naming is not determinis
