I have just started having this problem after doing an "apt-get
autoremove" on my Ubuntu 10.10 64-bit system (Acer timelinex 3820TG with
the dual GPU "switchable graphics").

I search for a term: e.g. 'django', then I go through the list of packages and
click on install if I think that I will need them.
Chances are high, that there is an interdependency between many packages that

traceback in ~/.xsession-errors or anything like this? The bug.log
unfortunately does not contain a stacktrace so its really hard to
diagnose what went wrong.

I really think this should be redesigned to have FallbackSession_1,
_FallbackMessage_1, etc. Otherwise you can't ever add a new one or
change the existing order without breaking all existing translations for
existing sessions. It will also avoid having metacharacters like ';'

Thanks a lot Colin! It seems like the grub part of the problem might be
that is simply search the wrong path. When copying "/boot" to the root
part of the FS (instead of @/boot) it works better. A symlink works as
well. But I also see a bunch of error message (like error: sparse file
not allowed).

Another update:
This morning my ubuntu servers automatically restarted after auto updates, and
I realised that on one server the primary network interface eth0 was left down.
But interfaces eth0:0 and eth0:1 were up and working correctly! Thats really
weird I think. I use a workaround now - I pu
