malicious script in there, then what would stop them from editing files
that the user owns? Nothing.

We're not using ACLs on the filesystem in question. It seems to simply
lose the mount authentication/authorisation as far as I can see - which
suggests rpc.gssd or a kernel problem surely???

Then the customer would have to install multipath-tools/boot, reconfigure
their fstab to use scsi ids or /dev/mapper/ paths, pick their device handler,
