i jumped the gun too soon i'm afraid. it WORKS for a SINGLE desktop, but
NOT when i connect my laptop to an external monitor and try to split the

that patch did not work for me. I wrote, another one, that worked fine. The
only problem is that the AddFact method exported via dbus has a parameter,
named 'temporary' which I do no have the value. So, I set it to default value,
which is 'False'. Hope this help too.

I found that if we instead use the 2.6.32-25-generic kernel released

Tormod, is there any chance to have aufs.ko module in Kernel Mainline
PPA kernels? I wanted to test if 2.6.36-rc7 solved the problem on my
machine, too on remastered (with xorg-edgers/radeon ppa) Kubuntu 10.10
pendrive but unfortunately I need aufs.ko module in initrd at boot which
is not included
FYI: I have this bug and a strange USB-mouse malfunction (mouse detected, but
only buttons work, cursor does not move), which *might* be related.
I will try now the "workaround"

This happens on two PCs I tried: a HP nw8440 laptop and a Toshiba
L500-13T laptop
I booted the live environment from an USB stick using the
ubuntu-10.10-desktop-i386.iso
I inserted a CD into the built in optical unit.
It is mounted and an icon
The same bug is there again in Maverick Meerkat. I couldn't print in
duplex mode out of evince and the dialogues to activate the duplexer are
quiet complicated. I had to change the driver from hpcups to hpijs.
Why is the same bug there again and again?

confirming that the update fixes the errors, I get the invalid read with
the maverick version and not after installing the upgrade, the new
version works fine and I didn't notice any issue running it

Thank you for your feedback, jeannich.
However, I think that the problem is more general and related to the
upgrade process on O.S. with a lot of packages installed.
I upgraded from 9.04 and 10,04 15 computers in total (13 Desktops and 2
Servers)
The upgrade process was successful on 9 computers
Can't find how to close the bug report... Any suggestion? Or can anyone
do that instead of me? Thanks

Re-opening because this is trivially reproducible in the Maverick release.
To rage at the darkness somewhat - please don't make lots of work for people by
closing bugs that are trivially testable.
