Ok, I can now reliably reproduce this.
If I install karmic, then install dovecot-postfix, then upgrade to
lucid, then maverick, and always choose the default option to keep the
conffile that is on the system, this occurs every time.

I installed the update as you mentioned, until there was no progress. Then I
rebooted the computer, and still there was the same problem.After which I
unistalled this recently installed update from

I'm pretty sure this wont cause problems for Unity. The one place that
comes to mind is when launching s-c to install an app from the
Availabale group in the apps place. In that case we fire off 'software-
center $pkg
I guess blacklisting the module isn't enough, then?
(I've never compiled a kernel before, I'll do so later on if needed though)

The EDID information from the monitor lists 1600x1...@75hz as a
supported Standard Timing, and the clock rates are within ranges,
although close to the limits. So this might be false information built
in to your monitor (or it can not handle its own stated specifications)
and not a bug in the X ser

I have the same problem here. Lucid Lynx won't detect any HW device in
its sound configuration. I won't post anything else as my HW is just the
same as specified above.

I would vote for increasing priority of this bug. Unzip in this version is
really useless and using it is dangerous.
Consider you have large archive in zip format with accented filenames and it
corrupts filenames, so it isn't possible to repair them back!
